Juneau is an interesting place. With its hills, compact urbanity, and tourists, this place a combination of San Francisco, village Alaska, and Las Vegas. For the record, I only relate with one of these things.

We’re here scouting for her show at the museum in February. But that’s not why I made this entry — she is.

Even though it wasn’t always clear to me — which is somehow an uncomfortable statement — her work plays a part in our relationship. Not directly, but through her openness to ideas and the refinement of her purposes. She’s like a parent of several kids, advising an 18 year-old and many burgeoning ideas; communicating well with all of them. Okay, better than me, maybe.

But that discipline is part of why I love her. Following the unknown is not always easy, especially when the goal is often intangible. The willingness for exposure is admirable, and there is inspiration simply in pursuing it.
