Years ago, I tried giving up on outside news, current events, and the like. I’ve spoken about it here after several years of trying to cultivate a meaningful void. At first I stopped out of the frustration I felt, realizing my often visceral reactions were a product of competent authoring. Then again, what isn’t provocative in our sort of world.

For whatever reason growing up, I always felt like I missed out on something. What did that mean? I didn't have a clue. Perhaps experience helps clarify that we all are without something of our own, only that the thing is different for each of us.
Instead of giving energy to the outside, my idea was to focus internally to better understand myself. So far, it isn’t the experience I anticipated. I’ll give you a friendly hint: if you choose like me to ignore the world, you better be ready for honesty.
It took me about a year to relax enough to admit I was bored, and maybe another six months to understand why. Doing something about it will be interesting.
