We have great friends who invite us into their way of life. One of those activities is fishing on the Kenai River.

I can’t stop thinking about how to repay the three of them for setting up our fish situation for the year. It is the only negative part about the experience. And maybe the word “negative” is inappropriate. I can’t think of a better one, though.

I always thought the movie 'A River Runs Through It' was beautiful, but never something I could relate to. Other people have a relationship to standing knee-deep in the river, but not me; I'm from Louisiana. Boy was I wrong.

Anyway. Despite the nearly constant rain, the weekend has been incredibly great. Even this afternoon’s run. In shorts, no less, because I didn’t pack for cold wetness. But I was warm so, meh.

The only reason I’m sort of ready to go now is because of the inconvenience of running here and anticipation of biking at home. Neither of us feels like we have gotten as much exercise as we wanted, not that we could have gotten more, although after fishing, instead of prepping fillets because we had too many hands, I got to split wood for over 2 hours. That was fun as hell — and got me thinking about what I might write about.
