I often get so focused on present decisions and preparation for them that, through a lower priority, past interests pay the price. Balancing is difficult and takes practice. Trust is also a factor.
Running is a good example. While paying more attention to volume, I shut down hiking up the mountain thinking both would be difficult. That might have been a mistake, but now it’s done.
Maybe flipping a calendar at least serves as a reminder to contemplate such a review. At least our friends query us, and the socializing breaks momentum.
