We are the sum of our memories, but they are not a permanent record. Instead, our experience and personality influence them. No memory is absolute and recall is literally open to your interpretation because it’s all connected: yesterday changed how you remember last week. Our past has no true meaning, so why does it matter to us?
Previous months have been about letting go of my old self, whoever that was. Letting go is a still a struggle. Meandering in the present may be difficult for me, but the uncertainty about who I was serves as motivation, and the rewards are constant.
